Steven teaches drum lessons at the Multnomah Arts Center in SW Portland, and is currently working on setting up a teaching studio in SE Portland as well. He offers private lessons on drumset, snare drum, and various hand drums + auxiliary percussion instruments.
Group Drumming Circles

Steven facilitates group hand drumming classes and drum circles at the Multnomah Arts Center in SW Portland and the Elsie Stuhr Center in Beaverton. This is a wonderful way for anyone of any musical background to learn how to play drums and percussion instruments, and teaches many of the fundamentals of rhythm and rhythmic improvisation.
African Marimba Ensembles

Steven also leads the African Marimba Ensemble classes at the Multnomah Arts Center. African Marimbas are relatively simple to learn and very fun to play. In these classes you can explore how to perform lively and upbeat melodies from Zimbabwe and South Africa, and will have the opportunity to develop rhythmic, melodic and performance skills in an upbeat musical setting.

Music and rhythm making are incredible ways for children to begin exploring self-expression and performance through music. Making music in a group promotes socialization and a wonderful feeling of belonging, can stimulate slower learners and help attention–challenged children focus all while developing basic motor skills and having a lot of fun!
